AMI launch GRS CQE program

The Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AMI) is launching a new training program, the Graduate Reskilling Scheme in “Certified Quality Engineer” (GRS CQE). The program is scheduled to commence on December 15, 2003 forty (40) trainees being recruited for the the first two intakes. The second batch will start training in February 2004.

The one-year training program for unemployed and fresh graduates was specially customized for the automotive industry, organized in collaboration with the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department and supported by the automotive industry group. Proton Vendors Association (PVA) and the quality professional organization, the Institute of Quality Malaysia (IQM).

Trainees would go through a five-month intensive course comprising of Personal Development Series where they acquired the soft skills including Communication and Experiential Learning, and Technology Series with focus on Quality Concepts and Tools, Statistical Techniques, Quality Systems and several other relevant subjects.

After the intensive course has been completed, the Institute would match the trainees with its employment partners who are members of PVA where trainees will undergo their industrial attachment for a seven–month period. After successfully graduating from the program they woud be awarded certificates of recognition jointly endorsed by AMI, PVA and IQM. Depending on the trainees' performance, the employers have the option to offer permanent employment to the graduates.
